This painting, the first of the four Magician family portraits, is 22 x 17 inches. The media are watercolor, ink, and colored pencils on watercolor paper.
Mr. Magician is a retired illusionist and social revolutionary. An avid gardener and observer of small things (aphids, ants, spiders, grains of ground spices, dew drops), Mr. Magician is still an active rabble-rouser on the astral plane. He very much looks forward to one or more of his three children producing grandchildren because he has it on good authority that he is to teach them many things magical and otherwise. Mr. Magician is perhaps best known for making the Golden Gate Bridge disappear entirely for eleven minutes.
