Under the Table Books
Writings by Todd Walton

Introduction

The process of writing about my prose works for this web site has been fascinating for all sorts of reasons, not the least of which has been discovering how many there are — and there are many more than those mentioned herein, including plays, poems, essays, and over a hundred short stories.

For many years I could only refer people to libraries or "really good used bookstores" when they asked where they could find my published books. Now I can say, “On the internet.” Indeed, when I checked a few weeks ago, one could purchase a virtually new copy of my novel Ruby & Spear for a penny (plus shipping) from more than one book outlet. And well worth it! I do not make any money from the resale of my books, but it warms my heart to know they are easily gotten. My non-fiction work Open Body: Creating Your Own Yoga has had a vivacious incarnation via the internet after being taken out of print before it was published by Avon, and several yoga teachers have contacted me to praise Open Body as a wonderful way to introduce people to yoga.

For many years I had a hopeful vision of finding a publisher for my new novels and stories (and to reprint the ones no longer in print). And, indeed, editors at major houses did want to publish my work, but their overlords would not allow it. So at last I have embarked on the adventure of publishing my own work through the excellent people at Lost Coast Press. Buddha In A Teacup: tales of enlightenment has just been published, and Under the Table Books will be published in February of 2009 (with illustrations by the author.)

Movie producers and directors are invited to make contact regarding novels and screenplays and stories.

But the primary purpose of this web site is to let visitors know about my literary and musical creations that are (or soon will be) available for your reading and listening pleasure.
