SELF-PUBLISHED WORKS

Sources of Wonder (2017)

sourcesofwonder | Under the Table Books

Essays. Remembrances. Stories. Monologues. Sources of Wonder contains eighty-three such works selected from over four hundred pieces written between 2008 and 2017. These essays are favorites of readers who took the time to write or call and tell me so, and they are my favorites, too. They are not time-sensitive or overtly political; and they compose a kind of autobiography.

For several years, readers have been urging me to make such a collection, and for reasons evading explanation I resisted doing so until now. I am extremely self-identified as a writer of fiction, plays, and screenplays, though far more people know of my many First Person essays that appeared in the Sacramento News & Review from the mid-1980s until 2000, and in the Anderson Valley Advertiser from 2008 until 2017.

These are entirely true stories—true to my memories and colored by my imagination. They are arranged alphabetically by title, not chronologically. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed reading them again whilst assembling this collection.

Inquiries welcome.
